April 7, 2007-Opening Day!

We took 6 salmon today for 6 passengers, 22" to 21#, the largest one taken by Loren Skavdal of Sebastopol.
I went looking for a big spot of fish this morning. Checked in 40 to 50 fathoms off of Elephant Rock, then SW to the edge of the canyon, where we trolled for a while in 50 degree, clear green, water with krill balls on the meter and Kittiwakes and Cassin's Auklets in small groups on the surface.
After an hour of no bites and scattered fish reports from the fleet inside us, we ran in to 38 13 X 123 09,  where caught our fish, trolling along the 50 fathom line. Very little sign in that area, but we scratched out some nice fish.
Tomorrow we'll be looking to the NW, starting off the Head in 25 fathoms, where a few nice fish were taken this morning.

These are the good ol' days
