Every year we look forward to the opening of the spot Dungeness crab season, the first Saturday in November (11/3). This year it will an especially welcome chance to be back out on the ocean.
On opening day the traps are usually full, easy limits the norm, and as we set the traps I start to think about cioppino & crab cakes, crab salad & crab omelets. I hope you can come down to Bodega for this autumn ritual.
Because the rockfish season closed early this year we're unable to offer all day crab/rockfish combination trips, but we will be running 1-3 hr trips to pull and reset the traps.
For the most and largest crabs I recommend booking a trip early in the season. This year we have almost two weeks to fish without competition from the commercial fleet. Their season opens November 15 and the crabbing should be best before then.
On Saturday afternoon I'll report on the crab bite, along with current weather conditions & photos.
The fare will be $50.00 each for up to 6 passengers per trip.
