The weather was beautiful on the coast, and we ran up to Gualala Point to fish the kelps for vermillions and blacks.
This group had a great time up there with us last summer, and conditions looked good for a repeat performance.
We fished all my favorite shallow spots but the bite was very slow all morning.
We switched from 2oz to 6oz jigs and fished some rocks along the 20 fathom curve, where we started picking a few nice reds and coppers. The bite finally picked up at high tide (about 2pm)and we stayed late, taking limits of the quality rockfish this area is known for, along with 8 lingcod to 12 lbs.

Dave Vice, center w/ lingcod & vermillion, chartered the boat with his son Sam, Dean Rhode & his son Chase, Steve Greer and Ted Rebello, all from Sonoma County.

A few more pics of these great quality fish:

What a Day! I don't see how it could get any better. Captain Vince owns the sea. As an amateur fisherman, I was helped along & informed about the fish. Can't wait til next time....
