Saturday's trip was our first chance this month to fish up at Gualala Point. Our last couple of trips we fished the local reefs and had very slow fishing, so I was relieved to have good weather and clients eager to make the trip.
We had a beautiful run up the coast over smooth, 3-5' swells under clear skies. Conditions looked perfect for fishing light tackle for the jumbo reds up there.
We fished 4-6 oz leadheads in 80-100' depths for results similar to our last trip to the area on 8-23, a slow pick of very big rockfish. We took about 35 vermillions, the rest of our limits were coppers, browns, chinas, & a few gophers, along with 4 lingcod to 10 lbs.
Here's a few pictures of the anglers, the fish, and the great weather.
