Saturday morning the air was crystal clear, and chilly. The sky to the east was orange and pink before the sun rose over the coastal hills.
We ran up the coast to look for some hungry rockfish but a dozen short drifts along the shore from Russian Gulch to Sunken Reef produced only 20 fish for our six passengers.
When Capt. Dave, on the Payback, called to say he was catching some nice blue rockfish up the coast near Ocean Cove we ran up to join the fun, taking 30 of the pan-sized fish before running back down to our traps off of Wright's Beach. The crabbing went well, and we took limits of Dungeness for all aboard.
Mrs. Anita's brother, Dr. George Gebhart, came along to sample the fishing and crabbing on the opposite side of the continent from his home in Warrington, PA.
David Vice and his son Sam, from Sebastopol and San Diego.

Al Lorenzoni, of Sebastopol, handled the trap puller while Ed looked on and his friend Perry Shott (not pictured) re-baited the traps for tomorrows trip.
