On a calm, foggy morning, we ran right past the bluff at Point Reyes to fish with the fleet at 37 59 x 123 01. 12 salmon to 20 lbs. came in multiple hook-ups on big spots of krill.

I met Perry at his place in Sebastopol for an afternoon drive to Lake Tahoe, with a stop at Donner Pass for Perry to catch up with old friends and for me to catch a couple brookies.
I got to meet Perry's Good friend, and our guide, Dave, who invited us to share a wonderful meal with his family and to spend the night in their beautiful home.
We woke at 0400 for coffee and a short drive to the lake house, where we launched the boat.
It was a perfect morning on the lake. Dave and Perry showed me how to long line for trout, old school.
The macs were biting and we soon had limits of 4-6 pound fish. I had a ball.
The fillets are delicious, a beautiful orange-red, and full of healthy oil. They grilled up just like steak.

One 16 lb fish for 6 anglers, 24 crabs.
The sea was calmer than I had hoped this morning, and I made the run up to Fort Ross and out to the 50 fathom line and trolled NW to try and catch up to the fish that bit here yesterday.
We did get one nice fish that raised our hopes, but could not find another. After trying 60 to 50 fathoms W of Tomales Point, we tried the edge of the rocks in 20 fathoms, but nothing.
3 or 4 per trap lately off of Dillon Beach, and a nice grey whale show on the way in.
We'll pass on the next couple of days and wait for the sea to calm back down.

The bite slowed down Monday. We only managed 4 fish for 6 anglers today, 6 to 16 lbs.
It was another day of beautiful weather and I dropped in at the south end of a fleet of commercial trollers who were pulling fish in 50 fathoms, west of Bodega Head.
We hooked up right away and worked down the edge from there. I wish I had stayed with the fleet, I hear they caught up to the fish off of Fort Ross and were last seen chasing them past Salt Point.
We stopped on the way in to pull our traps for 23 Dungeness crabs.
'Taking tomorrow off, but we'll be back out Wed.

Sunday we took 11 Chinooks to 18 lbs and limits of Dungeness crab fo 6 anglers, trolling ing the midst of 50 or more commercial salmon trollers.

The bite picked up Saturday as more salmon moved through, chasing schools of krill up the coast with the current.
We took 8 fish and 22 crabs for 4 anglers this morning, then made a short trip in the afternoon with friends, old and new, for 2 more, including a 22 pounder by Tyler Aughney, who drove out to the coast with his Mom & Dad and caught Mother's Day dinner.

A great day salmon fishing with Glen Fichardt's group from Road and Highway Builders of Ca., Inc.
6 salmon for 5 anglers today, 8 to 16 pounds.
50 fathoms, SW of the buoy. 38 12 x 123 10. 40 to 80' otw
A calm ocean full of life today. Bonaparte's gulls, sooty shearwaters, and humpback whales feeding on the abundant krill along with the salmon.
